Do 10"s work for Les Paul/Marshall?
I've been a fender guy all my life. Lately, I'm playing a tweed style amp with 2x10s. I'm interested in trying the Marshall thing and am wondering if the 2x10s will work for that or will I need a different speaker cab?? Thanks!!

I built a hardwood 2x10 for my class 5 and loaded it with a pair of Weber alnicos. In closed back configuration, it has plenty of thump.

In fact, the Marshall company itself uses tens.
Here's one of their 4-10 cabs [incidentally I found it in the San Diego Reader for $180...]

I've been using Marshall closed back 4x10's for quite a while with a variety of guitars.

I was never a fan of 10" speakers until I got my Kendrick Badassman, which is a 4x10" combo similar to a bassman. I changed the speakers to Celestion 10" greenbacks and run the Kendrick on two of these speakers, while I drive the other two speakers with a PRS 25th anniversary amp, which is like a hotrodded plexi Marshall. I can switch between three amp channels. My guitars are mailnly Les Pauls or PRS guitars and the 10" are now my favorite speakers for rehearsal and recording. Simply amazing.

Yes the new Greenback 10's, or the old G10-L35's can both get that great LP/Marshall tone from 10's.
