Clean Boost and/Vs Compressor? Advice?

Here is my situation:

I play worship music where I need softer clean passages to pop and solos to pop in the mix. I have all the overdrive I need so I'm not looking to push my amp, I just need to get some extra volume for certain things.

I understand what a compressor does and what a clean boost (and how they are different) but I wanted to get some advice as to which would be better for what I need OR if having both would benefit.

I know if I had both I would be able to use them but some input from your guys and your rigs would be great.

For extra volume for things, popping out, etc I would not use a compressor - they put a ceiling on volume and that's why I don't use them - I like to pluck some notes to jump out sometimes.

Maybe a volume pedal, clean boost, another overdrive, or work the volume knob.
