Attenuator Impedance Question
I have an 8 ohm Koch Loadbox Attenuator (the original lb-120).The attenuator can be used as a load dump in the sense that it can be used without anything plugged into the speaker jack.
What would happen if I set the amp output at 8 ohms but I connected a 16 ohm speaker to the attenuator speaker out? Does the fact that the attenuator doesn't require a load make the speaker impedance irrelevant or could I potentially damage the speaker, amp or attenuator by doing this? |

Speakers are irrelevant if you use the attenuator as a load box.
I'm using my attenuator as a load box for my amp, with no speaker connected. The attenuator has a Line Out which I feed to the fx return of a stereo combo amp. It works great. |

Just got my Egnater Tweaker in with a 16ohm speaker in it and I want to use my Loadbox with it.
Can anyone confirm that if I set the Tweaker to 8 ohms, plug into the 8-ohm attenuator, then go into a 16-ohm speaker that I won't damage anything? |
