NGD: CV50s Tele

Traded my beat up santana se in at gc and got this...

all I can say is wow. After a quick setup and truss rod adjustment, it plays beautifully except for those damn saddle screws. Anyone know where I can get replacements?

And by replacements, I mean shorter ones. Even my strat doesn't tear up my hand this bad.

I've gigged with my CV50's Tele for the past 2 months. I love it! Sound companies, fellow musicians, etc. cannot believe it's a Squier.

What problem are you having with the saddle screws? One thing I noticed is that most of the hardware is not stainless steel. My Tele has naturally relic'd in 2 months due to sweat, moisture, etc. I like the stock pickups, too.

I put real tele saddles (thicker and ungrooved), .010s and intonated mine, sweet guitar.

I plague a lot of leads with the heel of my hand resting on the bridge, and it gets torn up pretty easily.

Can you post a link to which saddles you put in? Has anyone else experienced staining on the metal parts of the Tele, by the pickup knobs, lipstick neck cover, etc.?

Congratulations!!

I've demo'd several of these guitars now and I'm really impressed with them.

I had the same problem with a Squier Tele I bought recently . Love the guitar but the saddles needed to go. I got these from Amazon.com :

http://www.amazon.com/Graph-Tech-Str...250808&sr=8-15

They are fantasic and a bargain . Will help the guitar drastically.

If you on on a serious budget these look cool:

Hope that helps.

It's not an issue with the saddle screws, but that the neck angle isn't set properly. Needs a shim at the butt end of the neck. Take the neck off, cut a 1/4" piece off of a cardboard string package and put it there. Put the neck back on, then set the guitar up. Will be much better

Unfortunately, it has a three saddle bridge, so those are a no go

not a huge fan of cardboard shims, but i'll try that when I change strings next. I'm just a wuss from years of using floyd rose bridges. I can always hit up the hardware store and dig through the set screw bin. Anuone know the thread on the saddle screws? Its either that or get some callahams and see where that puts me.
also, I take my guitars to a luthier that will reshape the neck to achieve the same results as a shim so I have wood on wood contact in the pocket

They were either from a '88 MIJ Tele or an '06 Nash T-63. One of those guitars got compensated saddles, and I still had the originals kicking around when I got this Squier. So there isn't a link so to speak.

I'll look but I haven't noticed any staining on the metal parts yet.

ok, an update for now. it isn't that the saddle screws are too long, i was just being a big wuss. if i don't think about the fact that they are there, i tend not to notice them... i've been playing it through my rebel 20 and a peavey classic 30 with a hardwire cm-2 tube overdrive, and i must say, this sounds nothing like my old MIM tele. its classic sounding, and can shred if i want it to. i'm loving this guitar more every day, and can't believe that all those times i wanted a classic rhythm sound i was missing a vital thing... a tele in bridge position. hell, it even does an acceptable strat sound in the neck position, so much so that i haven't felt the need to pick up my strat in 3 days, and well my superstrats... they are feeling awful lonely all by themselves at the end of the wall.
