I think so.

But I heard that Keith had to post clips first.

Yeah sure there's a bit of tasty guitar on it but FFS its buried under truly awful love songs for Nicole Kidman.

Every album gets worse than the previous one, would be great to hear him cut loose every now and then...
Saw Keith Urban front an amazing three piece group called The Ranch at a small-ish club called The Buckboard in Atlanta back in the mid 80's (I think that is right). He absolutely smoked the guitar that night and his showcase was a Van Halen-inspired version of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" which I still remember vividly.
I completely agree it would be nice to hear him step out on the guitar more but, like Vince Gill, it seems they would rather play it safe and make the big bucks. To be honest, it would be hard to turn down that kind of money. Doesn't seem to bother Cliff Lee that Yankee fans spit on his wife either. Money does change everything.

Edit: Did a little research and apparently it was more like the late 90's when he was playing with The Ranch. To be honest, it is amazing I remember anything from those crazy, hazy daze but I did live through that era "scarred but smarter" (to quote a Drivin' and Cryin" album title :-)

For you guys saying you'd love to hear him let loose, check out his early CD with The Ranch and also any of his live DVD's. He stretches out way more, yes in between Nicole Kidman-induced love songs. But come on, if you were married to Nicole Kidman what would you be writing about?

Oops! I jumped to the end of the thread and missed this post completely.
Didn't know he and The Ranch had a CD. Wonder where those guys are now? They both were tremendous players and the bass player was singing some sweet harmony.

I still LOVE the percussive sound of that old EMG-loaded Deluxe Tele the most of all his tones.

Pretty sure the same bass player, Jerry Flowers, still tours with him and has for several years now.
The Ranch originally cut the tune, Sometimes Days You Gotta Dance, which also ended up on the Huge-selling Dixie Chicks hit Fly.
Keith actually plays guitar on their version.

Wicked chops, great vox, sense of humor and effortless performance charisma and audience interaction. Pretty rad combination in one musician.

My girlfriend had the CMA awards show on the other night when I got home and Keith was just coming on. I was trying to remember if that was the same bass player so it is good to hear it most likely was (is).
Nice l'il trip down memory lane thinking about that show.

Wow! Thanks for posting that! That was pretty much exactly how I vaguely remembered it.

I've seen him up close and personal do an outdoor solo acoustic show to about 8000 in the crowd back in about 97 or so and he was freakin' awesome. Plays the hell out of the acoustic and covered the entire stage and had the audience in the palm of his hand. 10 minute standing ovation and called him back to at least 2 encores. Pretty crazy for a relatively unknown opening SOLO act at that time!

Blew headliner Dwight Yokam's excellent full band off the stage, and they seemed beyond boring after that great performance.

I thought Keith ditched him for a while and only hooked up again with him in the last 5 years or so.
