Pod HD500 - Flakey USB Connection

Just got mine yesterday. Can't comment much on the tones, other than the fact that I love some of the special fx ones.

Anyway, much like my X3Live, this thing won't stay connected to my PC for more than a few minutes. Actually, it seems to disconnect more often than the X3Live. At least I can generally plug this into a different USB port to restore the connection; with the X3Live I had to reboot my laptop. Either way, it makes the editing software absolutely useless for actual editing. Is this more likely to be due to a crappy Vista-running laptop or crappy software on Line6's part? I've heard about this happening on multiple OS's and hardware platforms, but I haven't heard of a fix yet.

I had a problem on my Mac, but it went away totally. I wonder if I updated the drivers in between. I can't remember.

I figured updating all my drivers might take care of it so I'm doing that now. I'm crossing my fingers. Editing everything on the unit is how I tend to work when I have a handle on things, but that will take a bit of time on this unit.

As it turned out, downgrading my audio drivers did the trick. Smooth sailing now!
