Does anyone make larger 335-style solidbody electrics?

Im looking for a silidbody electric with a larger body that is somewhat 335 styled. Not really looking for a hollowbody though which makes things tricky. Something like a Gretsch Committee or a Travis Bean in body style only. Not neccessarily looking for a metal neck for example. Just looking for a bigger solidbody electric. Does anyone make them?

It's a little weird, but there's the Schecter Robert Smith.

You could look around for an older Gibson 335 s I think they were called.

Also, Heritage used to make something called the Big Kahuna which was a 16in solidbody.

Yup -- the Gibson 335S has the same proportions as an ES-335, but it is smaller. Difficult to find (they were only made over about a 3-year period around 1980), but not terribly pricey, ranging from $800-1500. No depreciation and the vintage market has just barely begun to notice them.

One of the reasons it's difficult to find *large* solid body guitars is that they need to get thinner as they get wider, else you end up with some prodigious weight.

A solid body the size of an ES335. Wouldn't that weigh in at 14 lbs? Good grief!

It doesn't have to be THAT big. Just bigger than an LP Jr. for instance. I would love to go with a Rickenbacker 360 but the pickups are garbage for what I want to do.

if price isn't an issue then get your self a Fender Esprit / Robben Ford sig if you are more on the poor side then get the Squier Esprit. i have the squier (don't mind the squier name these are solidly built guitars and are much better quality than usual for squier). they have 2 humbuckers and a set neck. the body style and size are closer to a 335 than a les paul and sound wise it falls inbetween. best of all they aren't all that expensive the down side is that they have become kinda hard to find. the pickups are duncan design but after you swap out for better pups the guitar is killer.

How about an Ibanez Artist. There are new production models...& older one's that are available...

Ibanez Artist guitar

I used to have a Fender '94 Robben Ford model (Ultra Sp) made by Ibanez. Powerful sounding double cutaway w/ tone chambers & SD pickups. As nice as it was I just didn't bond w/ it...so I sold it. The newer MIJ Espirts are an option as someone already mentioned & for a lot less $!

The ES-150, not the Charlie Model, was ES-335 but as thick as a ES-175. I owned one for awhile. Very cool guitar.

Unless it's Balsa wood, it would be a boat anchor.

I agree, the Squier is a well made guitar. With DiMarzio&SD pu's, it's a killer. It's also chambered(a bit). Hard to find though

Then again, if Money is no object, you could probably have Hamer make you a solid Newport.

From what I was reading this week they may go for it.
