Jangly guitars

Name some guitars to check out for a bright, jangly type of sound...I know about the Rics, but what else is there? I am looking for some of the 60's tones and some of the 80's type tones...for example: the Del Fuegos, the Smithereens, the Plimsouls, the Three O' Clock, REM, etc...I am using EL84 based amps, so that base should be (fairly covered).

The Danelectro 12-string jangles like mad.

+1

I love the series wiring on this guitar. The middle pickup position is my favorite.

Telecaster?

Strat on middle PU.

I have a Godin Radiator that sounds like a cross between a Rick and a Tele.

Smithereens used a lot of Gretsch/Marshall on their classic stuff.

I was going to say Gretsch...they can jangle and twang with the best of them.
Although, the Ric is a classic...I'd love to have a Tom Petty Sig 12str.

Ricks are the jangle classics, but for many people (me among them) they are difficult to play.

Try Gretsch, the solidbody Jet guitars especially.

This one's a bit easier to play than a Ric...a bit wider board & no finish on the rosewood (Agile).

God Bless The Three O'Clock!!!

Wonderful band...thanks for invoking them!

I live inside a world of jangle. Recovered from a Ric addiction and got happier with a Hamer Eclipse 12 string. Underdog guitar and performs flawlessly every single time.

For 6 string, yes, the Danelectros are hard to beat. I have also gotten fine jangle from other unlikely sources like a MusicMan Axis SuperSport with 2 P90s.

A Telecaster with a good compressor--like the PedalWorx McSqueeze is another good path the slide down.

Of course I read this post while I had a compilation I made for myself of "latter era" stuff by The Church and the new ep by Phaser.....'twas good timing!

I'd add the right Les Paul Deluxe for jangle...
