Eventide Timefactor Delay Pedal, Thoughts?

Eventide Timefactor is being considered by me in a trade. Those who have owned, or own 1, please chime in. How do these compare to rack effects and others in the same price range?

I absolutely love mine. So extremely versatile and upgradeable through time. Eventide is supposed to put out a version 3 of the stompbox software somtime soon so trading for it now would be a smart idea.

Also check out an auxilliary 3 button switch as well as the expression pedals for these too. You can download the manual from eventide's site (google timefactor manual) and when you read about the presets, expression pedal setting per preset, etc you will probably gas for this pedal even more. Tubescreamer316 (Andy) and I both have some quick videos on the 3 button footswitch functionality on youtube. You can find mine if you click the web link in my signature and then look for the timefactor aux switch diy post from a few months back. Hope that helps.

I sold mine.

I should say that I am not a big delay person. I bought it for the tape echo and it did more then what I needed.

I didn't like it because even in 'true bypass' mode it was boosting my signal and adding a weird digital sheen. Drove me nuts.

The delays are really good, I just couldn't get by that and the fact that switching between presets is a pita - you need an extra switch to bank down - if you don't have one you would need to scroll all the way through to get back to the effect before.

I have a Timefactor and it doesn't add any noticable "sheen" to my gear. Also, you can limit the number of available banks, so you dont have to scroll through all of them. or you can buy an auxiliary switch to go up and down.

I love my timefactor, it does everything excellently. Plus there is an update coming that will allow you to name presets. If you do get it, please read the manual. You can control or tweak almost everything, making it sometimes intimidating. But its great. highly recommended.

I love mine!
Does so much, so much control over everything, but it does it really well.
That said, you CAN make it sound bad.
It can be 'tricky' to power w/o the supplied adapter.

IIRC, you can put it into true-bypass or leave it buffered.
I haven't noticed a change in my tone plugged into it.

Wow, that is cool. I have a Hardwire DL-8 right now, which I really got for the looper. I need 2 delays for what I do. I think I may do it.

I had a TC Electronic Nova Delay that I was really happy with until I tried out a TimeFactor just for kicks. The Eventide came home with me that day, and once I got to know it I was impressed enough that I bought a ModFactor without even plugging into one.

That sounds great man, I like your DIY 3 button switch. Looks like it has midi too If I go that route.

Yes, the Factor pedals are MIDI-compatible.

Glad you like my cheap diy aux pedal!

I had a hardwire dl8 before too! I couldn't stand getting in and out of the tap tempo by holding it down for 2 seconds though.

The looper on the timefactor is set up super well. Very intuitive and easy to use. I like it a lot.
I have a dedicated looper now though, its a jamman solo. I added 3 more switches to the diy myTouch slide aux switch box to add controls to it as well.

TF is my favorite mutli-preset delay. I love the tape sounds I can get with it. I had a El Capistan on loan from a friend last week when I was in the studio for five days straight. I turned to the TF over and over again. It might not sound exactly like a tape delay on its own, but it sounds killer in a mix.

Recent ND-1 to TF convert here. No regrets what so ever. The digital replication of the tape and analog delay are pretty on the dot, to say the least.

Before I say go ahead and make the trade, I would advise you to look at how you are planning to power it, especially if you are like me and you hate those wall warts. Yup all the best!

@forgivenick: Bro, your aux pedal instructional's like on the top list when i google-ed it the first time. very nicely done up explanations! Even I, an electronics idiot like me, understood. Awesome =)

Timefactor is the shizzle!!!! I echo all the positive points - also would behoove you pick up the ModFactor - it's amazing as well. My main pedalboard is based around those 2 pedals hooked together. Makes life MUCH easier & sounds fantastic.
