Oxidation on a speaker frame - removal?

Is it safe to use products like CLR on the magnet or speaker frame to get rid of rust or oxidation from a speaker in a cab that appears to have some moisture damage, or would this be bad, overall, for the cone or doping?

how rusty is it? Generally speaking, unless the metal is so corroded as to jeopardize structural integrity, I'd leave it alone. Got any pics?

I would think clr would be fine, just be super careful not to get the cone wet. Maybe dampen a rag and wipe.

Leave it alone. Its similar to a speaker exposed to a lot of cigarette smoke. It adds MOJO.

Unless you actually see the rust from the outside I'd leave it as it is. There are numerous of good intentions that just went wrong - and as long as noone sees it (and even should somebody do so) as long as the speaker sounds alright why tinker with it.
