Amp Build Done - wierd noises?

So i just finished rebuilding an old Traynor bassmaster.

Getting fired her up and she is WORKING..woo! BUT im getting some extreme distrotion that overtakes the notes being played - almost ring mod kinda sound..very garbled and agressive.. it comes and goes depending on how cranked the volume is or how hard i hit the strings.

Anybody got any quick ideas?
