TLS is my blueprint to become a decent bass player, and not just a guitar hack on bass.

Everything about that song is awesome. But the bass work truly shines.

So, Fuzzface into a Supro? I( dont think its a Marshall.

I've been listening very closely to a lot of stuff with my Shure in ears into my iPod. Lemon Song was fun, but the mix of Thats The Way just blew me away. Building to the end. Page was incredible.

Doesn't really sound like he's using a fuzz on that tune but Page might be using a tonebender with the gain turned down. You can get pretty close to that sound with a low watt amp cranked with a rangemaster or similar treble boost pedal in front. The guitar sounds pretty nasally and single coily to me so Page might have used his Tele unless he already had coil tapping on his Les Paul. Zeppelin recorded LZII while they were on tour and used quite a few different studios I believe, if so then it's anybody's guess what amps he was playing through as I would bet that Page didn't bring his Supro on tour with him.

Still that is one friggin' AWESOME tune.

Tonebender into a Supro was the LZI set up...

Much of LZII was recorded while on tour at different studios around the USA, Vancouver & UK. Living Loving Maid was recorded in NYC IIRC.....Lemon Song was recorded in LA at a small studio called Mystic Sound with Page playing his #1 Les Paul straight into a 1/2 Stack or Marshalls. JPJones also used a 1/2 stack as well with Plant singing the vocal on the basic track with the band.

On another forum, we have the pleasure of having a fella name Chris Huston, who was in a band called The Undertakers in the early 60's, and happens to have worked as a Sound Engineer on some tracks of Led Zeppelin 2.

His exact quote on the subject of The Lemon Song

Quote:
It was all Marshall amplifiers for those sessions and Bring It On Home, also.
I'm gonna go with Chris's judgement on this one... seeing as he mic'ed the amps they used...

Oddly enough, Chris was also the engineer for Jake Holmes song "Dazed and Confused"... but he never brought that up with the Zep boys!

Definitely a Blues cliche. However, the bulk of Lemon Song was lifted from a Howlin' Wolf tune, called 'Killing Floor'...

I can't imagine there could by any valid reason to keep beating that 'Page is a thief' horse. The Lemon Song is a great tune and is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser when played near the end of the night when everybody is well oiled.
