The Pearl sounds great and comes closer to the individual pedal tones that make up the Menatone Fish Factory (Red Snapper and The Blue Collar), than an actual FF.

This pedal gets two thumbs up from me. Extremely versatile.

I have been primarily using it with my strat since I got it a few weeks back. I plugged in my humbucker equipped guitar this morning and found out that The Pearl can handle some 80's hair band sounds too. =) This pedal just keeps giving. It loves my P90 equipped tele too.

I use the left side as a blues sound. Mild OD to some old school rock n' roll crunch. I use the punch side for heavier sounds. I combine the two for my lead tone.

Dan can also put a switch on The Pearl to switch the order of the two sides when stacked. This can be useful for another texture. I find that I leave the switch off most of the time so that it is punch side going into od side.

I'm really liking this pedal so much that I'm planning to sell most of my dirt pedals. It covers so much ground.

ive REALLY been wanting a red snapper and have considered getting the T1M "touch drive." which is the one side of the Pearl thats based on the Red Snapper. anyone know how similar/not similar they are? is that side of the Pearl pretty transparent? i think Dan said it was smoother than a Red Snapper.

hey ya'll. the initial Pearl was just called a menaclone (as it was what i thought the Fish should have been, the best of hte 3 knob snappers, and the best of hte 4 knob blue collars. i had a fish that i thought sounded brittle compared to the legit 3 knob 4 knob big box cartoon menatones)

since than both have undergone a bunch of changes circuit wise (mods shall we?) based off different experiments and customer requests, a few 'toggle' options (soon to be external) on 4-8 section DIP switches on the board, the optional toggle, and a mix/match of chips (creating a wider variation between the sides... one of the fishes i tried both sides were almost the same, not a fan: these two are DRAMATICALLY different).

so yes, the touch drive side is based off the snapper, and basically flavored up to a tube screamer (at high gain) but loud enough and sensitive enough to be left on all the time and 'controlled' with your volume knob for a kinda brown sound fender thing. slightly colored, but in a really good way.

the punch side was originally the blue collar, which is souped up tube screamer on roids. literally ballsy as all crap, but not too loud that its unusable.

the two together = heaven.

i know there was one used on the forums a little bit ago. they don't come up often (there are only between 50-60 out there) but this one was decently priced.

EDIT: (to below question) he was asking $160 shipped.

Another bump for Dan and The Pearl. Awesome pedal, and a stand-up guy to deal with.
