Fralin Unbuckers?

I moved this over from the Effects, etc. area since I wasn't getting many replies, so........

Has anyone here used them? How do they sound as a full humbucker as well as split? I'm considering one for the bridge in an HSS alder bodied Strat. Will the Unbucker play well with the 250K Volume pot? The guitar currently has a Duncan Pearly Gates Plus. I like the tone, but the split sound alone or with the middle pickup isn't great. Thanks!
Dave

I had one in the neck position of a Tele once and loved it. One of my favorite humbuckers ever and it sounds really full split.

I'm intrigued by the Unbucker myself,so I'm having them make something different for me which will be pretty different from their stock ones.
I'm shooting for something more powerful, yet with some single-coil snap, so I'm getting a 14K Alnico II custom wind, 8K screw coil, 6K slug coil, quite different from their 9.5K alnico V ones..
Might be an expensive experiment, but my hopes are up.

Not really doing it for the split sound, but that could be a nice bonus if it works out.

Here's my Jerrycaster w/a pair of Unbuckers surrounding a Steel Pole 43.

14K? - Holy shit!! Mine are 8.5K neck and 9.5K bridge.

I replaced the humbucker on my Strat HSS with an unbucker. It sounds great as a humbucker and a dial-a-tap let me dial in the amount of split (check out guitar-mod.com). I originally had an 8.5k unbucker and then replaced it with a 9.5k. I am having the new one installed right now. I chose to go with 500k pots.

With the Alnico II magnet it will not be that hot in character really..
It will be an interesting experiment.

I've used them in two SG's. They sound great, both normal and split.

Just be aware that they come in a 4-wire and 3-wire config. 3 is fine if you just want to be able to split them. But you need 4 if you want to be able to go series and parallel WITHIN a single pickup. (I use a 3-wire set.)
