Hey, Gretchies: Whadd'ya string yours with?

Just reading the DR thread. Been using DR Pure Blues .11's forever on Teles and JM's. Haven't thought about strings for years, but recently got a Gretsch 6120rhh. I am loving it, and wonder if anyone has thought about strings for the Gretsch. Oh, bigsby, tru-arc brass bridge, bridge pinned, locking tuners and Gibson scale. Time to try something different?

Just gone back to using Ernie Ball 12 to 54s which sound great.

Also got a TruArc (Brass, Copper, Stainless) in the mail to me.

Hope you enjoy RHH - I just supported him last Tuesday night - he was great.

Mine was set up with 13s with a wound G by Larry Cragg when I bought it. (Neil Young's guitar tech)

I played fine, but I just could not get used to 13s.

I think the cool thing about my 6120 Setzer is that it was handled by Larry Cragg!!

I talked with him about it, and he urged me to just get used to the 13s because he felt that guitar was at its best with them on it. Although I respect him for his work and opinion, I just could not get used to it. Sorry Larry...

I put 11s on it and it screams!

I have a brand new 5122DC
Adding TV Jones Classics and a Tru-Arc Aluminum bridge (goes to the tech today)
I'm using D'Addario EXL115 11s
There are those who like a flat wound on the Gretsch's, but I prefer the round wounds.

6128EE (Easton Jet) - Pyramid flat 11s, they play like 10s or 9.5s and sound great on that guit
6120/ 6121/6129BZT = 10s, usually D'Addario though sometimes Thomastiks
