Pitch Black: pops in the PA when I use it
Hopefully a simpleton question. Just got a Pitch Black the other day. Setup is as follows:
acoustic > Pitch Black > DI box > house PA. Whenever I click on or off the tuner to tune, we hear a "POP" in the PA system. Is this normal? Do I need to turn down the preamp on the acoustic before clicking on the tuner? |

True bypass pedals are known to "pop" when turned on and off while hooked up to a hot circuit.
Try turning down your preamp, that might help. |

if your pre has a loop you can put it in there too

this also happens to me. The only solutions are to put it in a loop like they said or what I like to do is put a buffered reverb pedal after is so the pop gets taken out. The only problem then is that you have to power the reverb (i just use my 1spot). If you're down to spend some cash I would get a DI with a preamp in it like the VenueDI by LR Baggs which includes a tuner and well everything you could ever want for an acoustic rig. One day I'll buy it. One day.

I see. Didn't know that about true bypass stuff. Thanks all for the heads up.
(And thanks Dan for the email, appreciate the response!) |
