Pedal to transparently lower the signal

I know it's an odd question. Looking for a transparent pedal to lower the signal without altering the tone. No bells or whistles. Kind of like the opposite of a clean boost.
I noticed that my Tubefactor likes to see a lower signal for what i'm going for (uncompressed somewhat higher gain distortion) so I like to pull it back a bit before I hit it. I'm currently using the mxr eq and pulling down the input and output a little but I want to move it to the end of the chain.
Any ideas?

Dylan

The Homebrew Electronics Detox EQ might be a good choice.

If anyone has a Tech21 TRI-AC laying around. It can be economically mod'd for a buffered line-out with level control. The signal is transparent.

My mods provide 3 programmable eq's and the line-out.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking for something non buffered (I should have specified). I already have some buffing in the chain and I don't want to....well....overbuff.

Preferably looking for something on the cheap. maybe some sort of DIY boost that can bring the signal down?

I think they're about $45 at Tonefactor. I have two. I'll sell you one for $35 if you're interested.

Maybe I'm being simplistic, but couldn't you just throw a good quality resistor of appropriate value and a footswitch into a box and have what you want?

J. Everman "The Pot" will do exactly what you describe. They're a little pricey new (IMO), but used they aren't too much at all.

The super duper. 2nd channel has transparent unity gain plus any amount of gain reduction you need.
