What to use for speaker cable?

I need to make a bunch of speaker cables...what do y'all/you'uns use?
Regular zip cord? High-quality stereo speaker wire? Something more boo-teek?

I'd kind of like to avoid anything that looks like it could be confused with guitar cord.

I would just use regular zip cord. No confusing that with a guitar cord!

I like 14ga oxygen-free copper, but it's not like I can hear a difference. I'm just mental.

Got an old vacuum cleaner around? Clip off the power cord to the appropriate length, add a couple of Switch craft plugs, and you have a Ken Fischer & VaughnC approved pre-conditioned speaker cable . But make sure you also try wiring your cable straight and crossed to see if one way sounds better than the other with your particular rig. Using a dual banana plug in the center of the cable allows for quick comparative phase changes.

What is the cable for? An amp? A PA? Stereo? Each has different requirements. Cable for an amp is fairly short and doesn't get much abuse. PA speaker cables need to be really long and get run over by everything under the sun.

14/2 will work fine for all of them.
