Harmonic Designs Super 90- Good for Clean to Mean??

I'm on the fence about putting one in my faux Esquire (62 CIJ Custom reissue with the neck pickup removed)...I've read a lot of great things about 'em, but I can't find info as to how well they clean up going into a cooking single channel amp.

I'm running a JCM 800 with the gain at about 5 o' clock, and with my LP equipped with a low 8kish bridge humbucker I can get all the way down to a gritty clean with the gtr volume down at about 3 or 4......

So-

Would the Super 90 in my tele be pretty close to giving me the same response, or stay dirtier due to the higher resistance? I believe they're somewhere around 12- 13k.

As an aside, the Klein Fat Man is also in the running due to the lower resistance (around 10k, I believe), and per Chris it will clean up very well.

Thoughts?

Superb at this. If you try it, you will be pleasantly surprised, given HD's recent dip below the radar.

Had an HD S90 in my Esquire for a while - WOW! Great crunchy when volume up full, great clean-up as the volume is rolled down, yet retains body and tone. Just remember to use a ground wire, they are pretty hot... Have not tried a Klein Fat Man but after trying his Strat pickups, I would jump on one for sure, should be a wicked nice pickup!

My Super 90 is 13k and it's great rolled-up or rolled-back. One of coolest bridge pickups I've ever played.

That is one rockin' tele bridge pickup, but it does clean up well. Much more balanced than some other overwound hot pickups.
