Is it true that gift wrapping is a conspiracy by the paper mill industry to increase profits?

Come on, seriously? It's called "the element of surprise". If all the gifts are just scattered under a Christmas tree unwrapped.........pandemonium would ensue. Plus that wouldn't be any fun.

No, gift wrapping is cool.

Christmas cards, on the other hand, ARE a conspiracy, and a vicious cycle.

So cards are a conspiracy, but wrapping paper isn't? I'm not seeing the distinction, after all it's all paper.
