But now I'm on the verge of just going off topic if I haven't already. DiBergi out.

I don't think you're going off topic, and I totally get what you are saying. You interpret "working harder" at note bending as stiffer. Makes sense, as the farther you push, the harder you're pushing, so in the end it feels like you are facing more resistance than say on a tele.

I don't think it's off topic because there are many choices out there. From Buzzstops, to mastery, to Classic players JM/jags. The difference in feel and sound between them should be a point of discussion in deciding "do I want product A, or B".

Thanks for all the responses. I'm sort of on the fence on having it put on right now. Of course, I've got a few weeks before the bridge shows up, so...

It's a great quality product. Mine even came with the intonation set almost dead on! Don't hesitate. Slap it on. Don't even need a new set of strings if you're careful. Between the video instructions on the site and the written instructions in the packaging, it's a piece of cake.

I absolutely love mine. I've got them on two guitars and a third ready for my next Jazzmaster. They cure any problem you could have with Jag/JM/Stang bridge and are just a rock-solid product.

I have installed them on three different instruments, and everyone is quite happy

As previously mentioned, the break angle is an important factor to consider, and sometimes you just gotta try different settings to get that particular instrument to work properly.

Totally transformed a Tele w/ Bigsby the other player in my band uses. He saws pretty hard on it, and I gave up long ago on reminding him to keep the bridge centered on it's pivots so as to maintain it's intonation, and this is no longer an issue, nor have we experienced any accelerated string breakages. Also, along with the fact that it rings out much better, I've once and for all eliminated the string pop-out deal that everyone has mentioned.

Pretty much a total thumbs-up on this product - even the packaging is kind of mind-blowing.

I've been spending sometime perusing Dave W's (of Slacktone) site, he builds a lot of his own Jaguars, and he uses the Mastery, doesn't seem to have string breakage issues, and he's a whammy abuser being a surf guy.

I spoke to the staff at one of the local luthiers here, and I'm going to wait until it arrives and have them install it, and fix a couple of fret height issues on my BT Jazzmaster at the same time. Right now I'm running 9s and I'd like to keep running that gauge unless going up a little bit enables me to lower the action without making the strings difficult to press down; I have small hands and have had tendon issues in the past.
