I've read a lot of conflicting information on which type of power amp is best to use with a modeler.
Some say solid state is the way to go, while other say tube is it. Is there any consensus on this? I know from a cost perspective solid state is much less expensive. |

Depends on how the modeler is set to operate. If it's emulation all the way you probably want an ultra linear amp, as any colouration added would diverge from the expected tone of the model. If it doesn't have output section modelling, it can be switched off or maybe it's stiffer than expected then you can go with a clean valve power-amp. Then the type of bottles will determine the sound you'll get, so a Marshall with emulated EL34s into 6L6s may add rather odd harmonics if pushed into saturation.
