What is a "Tweed" amp?

It is Voices 1, 2, 3 on Channel 2 of the Super Champ XD amp.

The fabric is called twill but nobody outside the cloth trade and clothing design set seem to care. Tweed is a misnomer because that name denotes a fabric which is a heavy homespun Hebridean woolen shrunk in vats of piss (no joke) to twice the density of the original weave and used for Harris Tweed sportcoats and hats.

Tweed is a covering mostly associated with early Fender amps. Many other amp mfgs. used this type of covering as well, as did the luggage industry in the 40' and 50's.
