Rory Gallagher

He's been my favorite for the last several years. Absolutely obsessed with the guy.

Genius player. Saw him several times and was always knocked out.

One of the immortals IMO.

My teacher saw him at the Paradise in the 80's and asked him how close he was to the stage and he said "we where practically brothers".

I love this video

I love Rory's music -- it always sounds fresh and inspiring, and I never travel without his music in the car. Got a chance to hang out with him for a day in 1991, the last time he toured America, and found him to be a wonderful guy who had zero ego and was really easy to talk to. He was full of life and had a generous spirit -- as did his brother Donal, who worked with him for many years. Rory sat for a long interview about his playing, blues heroes, beloved Strat, etc, which I've posted online: http://jasobrecht.com/rory-gallagher...991-interview/

Listened to "Stage Struck" all last week - what a complete lesson in how to lay it down live.

I took my wife to see him, her not knowing a thing about him, she left a completely obsessed fan. Rory is in that of class greats...

My cousin had that "Live Taste" album and when I heard Gamblin' Blues the first time I was hooked. I was 11 years old. Rory was the reason why I started to play guitar. Of course the first rock concert I saw live was a Rory Gallagher concert, that was in 1973 and I was 13 years old. To see Rory live was the best.

Jas, that's a great interview, thanks. I always enjoy your writing about the Blues and the Blues musicians.

He is a towering figure as much for the way he conducted
this career in a "no compromise" manner as for his staggering
musicianship.

Funny you mentioning, I ordered myself this yesterday. Mind-blowing solo at the opening (shadow play):

Deuce is one of my all-time favorite albums.
