Are your parents getting old?

One day, you are going to need their personal/health-care info.
For US citizens (cause I'm not sure how this works elsewhere, as I just got put into this unexpectedly)

Such as:

Their Social security #
Medicare #
Health insurance policy #
Where/what their financials are
A living will
A Power of Attorney

and many more, as I'm learning the hard way.......

Start talking with them about this stuff NOW!
Your friend ,
Russ

Good advice--thankfully my folks set up a living trust with all their stuff in it, directives for end-of-life decisions, and they pay long term care insurance. My Dad has always been a planner.

Yes. Both parents went to a nursing home/assisted living facility this year. It is heartbreaking and I live 300 miles away from them.

I guess if 66 and 61 are old then they are. My Dad does suffer from diabetes and has since he was 16 so he has 50 years of that he is dealing with.

My mom swears she is going to live to be 100.

My Mom just went into one also.
I'm now taking care of their financials, day to day concerns, etc.
My Dad is 90yo they've been married 65 years, and they(he) can't stand to be apart. So I bring him back and forth to my Mom everyday.

It is difficult, and emotional.

I couldn't bring myself to put my mom in a nursing home. She was diagnosed with cancer a year ago today. Luckily I had some savings and got laid off a month or so before. I have been taking care of her 24/7 ever since. Hospice is a god send. I can count on one hand that I was able to sleep the whole night through. It takes its toll.

My parents are both in their early 70's and I'm not looking forward to making those decisions. They are both very healthy right now and seem to be enjoying themselves. I am thankful my two sons have been able to spend a lot of time with them as they grow up.

I understand there is a living trust with all the information I need.

My mom's dad lived to be 92 and her mom lived to 105. My mom has always said she doesn't want to live that long but she seems to have the genes.

No, my parents are old. I'm the one getting old.

Of course, my almost 97 year old grandmother may not agree.

Both my parents are about 77-78.
I know there are decisions coming that I don't want to make.

I don't know if I can make. honestly.

I wish mine were still around. My mom died from a brain tumor when she was only 67.
My dad died 7 years ago at 83. Miss them both so much.
