Manifold Drive Review
Never written a review, but this pedal motivated me to say something since there isn't much commentary on it.
I've been hunting for a good raw/open sounding dirt pedal for some time. Tried the Tim and while it does exactly what it's supposed to, I wanted a little character from the pedal itself too. Not just push my amp per se. I bought this from a fellow TGP'er and man is it great. The three settings between dark/bright/and flat are very useful. I'm into simple stuff that sounds great so not being able to EQ beyond these parameters is perfect. It is a very open sound but has some grit/edginess too it. Not grit in the dirt sense of the word but rather some balls. You can get all over the place between a little crunch or an AWESOME fuzz sound. It's got this boom/blooming type sound to it that makes my single coils sound incredibly thick (and they're weak Fender CS Pups). This pedal isn't for a tweaker. But if your amp sounds good, this will sure make it sound good too. The three switch EQ could also be handy for switching between Single Coil and Humbuckers. Cranking my Morgan RV35 the OD never was what I personally was looking for. Taking what I liked from the Morgan it still retains characteristics and then kicks it in the balls and lights it on fire (if you set it that way). Very thick/rich sounding at higher levels. Sorry for the lack of TGP adjectives, pretty much wanted to just say it's great. |
