I really dig mc5. And though I may stop short at owning one, it's a cool piece that pays tribute to a dude that definitely influenced a lot of great players and bands.

As far as I've been able to figure out, a similar WK model was previously available several years ago as a limited run sold only in Europe.
Now google up the youtube Tartar field footage of the MC5 doing KOTJ, Ramblin' Rose and Looking at You at Wayne State as well as the Aylesbury footage. No flag strat though, the Dan Armstrong and an Epiphone.

Actually, I think so. It's $999.99 MAP with a bag. Don't know for sure though.

A friend of mine owns that Epiphone....Fred "Sonic" Smith was his cousin.

Bnteresting how they cropped out some of that Leni Sinclair photo in that video background...like the Marshall with the Stars and Bars, I guess explaining the Ypsitucky concept is too complicated.
There is so much irony with this concept- but the MC5 as a whole were never short of irony or internal contradictions...even as they are pretty much one of my favorite bands. I like Wayne and have copped his licks but Fred Smith was a whole 'nother order of magnitude, as many who experienced Sonic's Rendezvous Band will understand. Quite frankly, I think I'd like to get my mitts on this guitar complete with full dose of irony. They could have treated that fretboard a bit before featuring it on video and a tele pickup might be interesting if not quite correct. There was some sort of version of this a few years ago that I think was only sold in Europe.

Waynes "moves" were nothing to be sneered at either. Kinda like Elvis in a way.
Yeah, the fretboard looked a bit "too original". |

I played one and the bucker in the middle sounds surprisingly good. Doesn't feel like a cheap strat. Worth giving a try.
