Buying them in Australia is even more expensive, 12 loops can cost around $500.

A LoopMaster costs less than most of the pedals in the Emporium, and it makes ALL of your pedals work better and sound better. That's not expensive.

Agree.

Plus I don't have the time/parts/skill to make one.

dang, wish I could get $150 for the one's I've built!
anywho, someone earlier posted a great summation of the cost... I would add to that:
few xtra caps and resistors to add in pop limiting for led in case you have high gain pedals in loop.
for a simple two loop build: 1.5hrs to wire it up. .5hrs to do a graphic/paint/apply
.5hrs troubleshoot when I inevitably switch two leads...
.5hrs -got a bad LED
$1 worth of shrinktube (at least!)

I made a couple of friends TB loops for Christmas, and while it took me an extra long time because I went crazy with uber neat wiring, I can still see where these things will cost money. Hell I made one for myself where the wiring was solid, but not anal retentive, and that took me long enough to think twice about doing it again. Between the wiring and the drilling of the enclosure, I know if I was a seller I'd have to get REAL quick at it and streamline the process to make it worth my while.

vs a $300+ fuzz pedal? Doesn't sound out of wack to me.

Dan (this1smyne) built me a reversible stereo pedal (ie. AB/BA) with four loops and a mute switch. It's possibly one-of-a-kind, and cost well under $150 with shipping to Canada. My pedalboard is much more versatile now and, considering the time Dan spent helping me get the order together via PM, and then building the pedal, the profit margin was probably very modest indeed.
