Question Mesa Transatlantic- metal?

as some of you know i'm searching for a super lightweight great amp. i'm a mesa mark v user which i love, but i'm considering a trasnatlantic. how much gain does this thing have? i play fairly high gain stuff, and i could use a pedal if i had to, but can this thing go into metal territory?

I love metal, and I love my TA-15, but it won't take me there (black metal, blackened death metal, progressive death metal, pagan black metal, etc...). Don't use pedals, so I can't say if it crosses the divide with them.

I would say that medium gain classic overdrive tones (like BS) are within reach from the red channel of the TA but you will need a pedal for anything high gain or scouped.

I'd agree with this. Sorry, but when I think of metal now, I tend to lean towards extreme stuff. BS are classic hard rock to me. Regardless, the TA should be able to cop some of their tones. I've been looking into getting a OCD pedal to see how it affects the TA drive, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. Maybe someone else will chime in?

I love my TA-15, but it wont get you there on it's own. If the gain is u too hight (75%) it starts kind of flubbing out. It doesn't have the tightness of any of the mark series.

I would say the highest gain possible is maybe something along the lines of 90s alt rock, Stone Temple Pilots etc.
