variacs for 220-240v?

just wondering if variacs work only in 120v settings or do they benefit in a 220-240v countries?

They can work in any setting, and most manufacturers make versions for both voltages.

For the record, waiting less than 4 hours before bumping your post is a little hasty. 24 hours is more acceptable.

thks for the response adam.

which variac seems to be a good choice for 220-240?? i go to the recommended websites i other threads but all the specs seem confusing to me

Where are you located? What kinds of specs do you want? Without knowing some specifics, my general recommendation is to find one that can do 5A minimum, and isn't made in China (the cheap Chinese ones fail a lot, and at really bad times).

hi adam,

am not sure what specs to go for.
i own a brownface vibrolux and heard about junior watson using a variac to fatten up the tone.

i live in Singapore with power outputs from 200 - -240v

Same specs as I already indicated. You need one with a 240vac input, with a 5A current minimum. I know Staco makes them (or you can find surplus ones), which are good units. There are a variety of other brands that you can track down too.
