Smooth Fuzz..
Could someone give me a recommendation on a smooth fuzz? almost like a thick high gain overdrive pedal, not so much sputtery and velcro like.

Not sure why you'd want a fuzz like that. One of the Boss fuzzes maybe? Not sure.

Diamond Fireburst? The way I use mine is like what you describe I think.
http://proguitarshop.com/store/effec...on-pedal-p-787 Keeley Fuzz Head is also a good suggestion.

I have both the Keeley Fuzzhead and Diamond Fireburst
Fireburst has more gain, VERY smooth, wicked low end. I never really engage the mid boost. Sometimes I think it might be too smooth. The Silicon is just a bit omnipresent. Fuzzhead has a little less gain, a little fuzzier, but not much. Better tone, better dynamics due to the GE I generally will use one for a while at the studio, the other at home (not much). Then I switch them up. I think they are pretty similar. You can hear the difference between the silicon (Fireburst) and germanium (Fuzzhead) I play them thru a a 69 Bandmaster Reverb with 2- 12" Scumnicos. If I had to choose I think i would pick the Fuzzhead, but right now the FB is on the board

Sounds like you might like a modded Big Muff.

Monsterpiece scratchy snatch- has external input and transistor bias controls- you can get everywhere from smooth overdrive to sputtery gated Velcro.

Yes! Or the BMF Aries Fuzz. Both are classic Muff tones with midrange controls.
