my new suhr weapon

I wanted a guitar that would be a fast playing fusion monster so I ordered this

basswood/maple body
10-14 radius maple/brazillian
dsh+
v60lp
dsv
fixed bridge

this guitar weighs about 6 lbs and kills for tone.

A nice compliment to my other guitars!

That's awesome! Is that a binding around the body? How much did it cost?

I am not much of a coffee table kind of guy so the binding is actually a scraped outline of the maple top. I did the maple basswood for tonal reasons.

Ed at Tone Merchants hooked me up with this one. I must have changed spec's 5 times before deciding on this one.

Figure ~2400 ish

The super light weight was a bonus I was not expecting. It is as light as my ash tele (also a Suhr)

I've noticed that on his website Suhr speaks very highly of the tone from basswood guitars with maple tops... I know describing tone is very tough (and almost like dancing about architecture) but if you can how would you describe the tone as compared to other Strats you have or have played?

That guitar looks absolutely amazing close up. I had the honor of unpacking it when it came in. Literally caused me to gasp. The gloss black is really grand piano-like. So much so I nicknamed the guitar the "Wurlitz-Suhr"

One of the sleekest, most elegant Suhrs, and maybe the lightest, to ever come thru Tone Merchants.

Great job of spec'ing that baby out, Joe. Congrats!!

Did you have a chance to try out the various suhr neck carves before you ordered?

Which did you get?
