Used amps at GC-help please

Hey y'all. I have a gift certificate for GC and a need for a decent combo amp. I went to GC today and they had some good choices. They have a 4x10 hot rod deville for $550, a vibrochamp deluxe 1x12 for $600, a deluxe reverb for $800 and a twin reverb for $800 (all prices list). I plan on going back tomorrow with my guitar and checking them out, but I was hoping for any thoughts or suggestions. All amps appear to be in good shape.

FYI, I play mainly blues (srv, Hendrix, etc. shocking I know....) I have an LP studio but I play my strat 90% of the time. Thanks for any input!

P.S. I apologize for any typos or format issues. I sent this from my cell and I suck at typing on this thing.

All of these amps are good choices for what you play. The Deville is insanely loud and the od channel sucks, but it takes pedals well. The Deluxe and Twin will sound great. Don't know about the Vibrochamp. Think I would give serious consideration to the Deluxe.

I agree... IMHO you should be able to get them to come down on that price too.

+1 on the deluxe or the deluxe reverb. unless your playing big places with no PA, the deville and twin reverb will just be way too loud. whatever you choose from those amps though, they all have very nice clean tones and take pedals really well.

Which GC did you go to? Last time I was there the Park Meadows location had some nice used stuff. The salespeople at that one have always seemed way better to deal with than the one on Colorado.

I'd have to agree with the other posts, the Twin and the HRD 4x10 are gonna be way too loud for most situations. I'd go with the DR or the Vibrochamp.

Just came back from GC at route 46 in Wayne NJ. Where they have a '66 pro reverb used for 1200. Did I just dream that, or did it really happen??

Thanks guys!

I was at the GC on Colorado Blvd, but if your going to go buy an amp tomorrow, then it was Park Meadows!

Thanks for all the comments, I'll check out the vibro and the deluxe reverb. I think those are much more in line for what I do (home noodling, jams and hopefully some small gigs this year). I have a Fender Dual Showman at home on loan from a great friend. I have yet to turn that bad mother up over 6 (and I thought it was going to destroy my home at that level). I defintely don't need an amp for large gigs without a PA. So, off to GC with my guitar tomorrow and see if I find a new (to me) amp.

They list the deluxe reverb at $800. How much play have you guys got on price for used gear there? They have gotten stingy with coming off list for their new items. (so much so that I bought a Cordoba guitar from an internet site at $150 below their price) Thanks for the feedback and if anyone has any other advice, I'm all ears!

Haha! No, not buying at the moment. I got them to come down about 10 percent on a used Bugera V22.

the percent is flexible, depends on how bad they want to get rid of it. just tell them your price and work from there. I stole a Bad Cat cab from them once couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.
