Ford Mustang GT verse Chevy Camaro SS

i test drove the mustang GT and the v6,,, the camaro SS and the v6,,, the camaro v6 was a dog,,, the SS was a monster, a ton of torque,, but the ride was not very smooth and im 6-2 and the cab was too small head was hitting top,,, the mustang GT was very nice more room for me to sit comfy and plenty of power,, the v6 was good also i could get by with the v6,, but the GT is still the way to go,,, so for me so far its the mustang,,, what do you guys think who test drove both??????

I drove both and chose the Mustang GT. Power wise it was pretty equal, but the GT handled better and was more comfortable for me. I also thought the Mustang interior was of better quality. In the looks department I give the nod to the Camaro. That being said, the Mustang GT with 412 HP in stock form mated to a 6 speed manual with 3.73 gears is a smile inducing ride every time. So far the only mod I did was add Flowmaster mufflers for that old school muscle care rumble. Both are great cars and don't forget to look at the Dodge Challenger too.

I drove the GT and its the best Mustang to date. I heard the Camaro is a real chop top. I'm 6'2 as well and the Mustang has good head room. Wasn't always like that.

Better buy now if your looking for room in the pony. Word on the Ford forums is that it is gonna be a bit smaller soon....

Lotsa lotsa goodies aftermarket for the Stang already. Camaro & Challenger parts are really starting to be developed but more already for the pony.

I've always hated mustangs (all but the first) with that being said I find very little that apeals to me with the camaro, I don't like the looks and I'm sick of that engine. IMO the new mustang takes all the good looks from the origional and combines them with the best parts of the new challenger and I think it looks KILLER! Best looking American sports car I've liked the look of in a while. From all I've heard from owners is that the stang has better handling and the motor inspires you to push it. I think it's cheaper also might be wrong but that's usually the case. I vote ford.

yeah i havent drove either so i believe you obviously. 300 hp can make a car crazy fast or crazy slow, it all depends on weight, as you know. Nice review, thanks for that

They should redesign the Camaro and get rid of that chop top look. I sat in one at the Auto show and it's like no way! The blind spot was ridiculous and I don't think it looks all that great anyway with the squashed windows. Yeah, even though I'm an ex chevy buff, I'd go with the stang.

Mustang all the way.... However I would be real leary of what gas is going to cost in the coming couple of years. That is why I purchased a V6 in 2003. I wanted and still want the GT but I drive too much.

Mine is a 2003 and has over 180,000 miles on it and I have never had one issue outside of normal maintenance stuff (knock on wood). I am looking at new ones now and for kicks I did drive the Camaro v6 last year and didn't like it. I really don't love the look of it either...

YMMV

I hear ya...The GT Rules... If I didn't have to drive 150 miles a day for work I would get one in a heartbeat. I would be afraid to try it because like you said I know I would buy it
