Two questions ...would this head sound great with a marshall 1960 with 4 greenbacks ...and does it have the usual Fender 5 year warranty ?

Yep, it seems that this amp was made for Greenbacks.....according to the few that have the amp already!

Got mine today. This thing is absolutely unbelievable. However, is anyone else here experiencing a "popping" sound when switching channels. It's VERY noticeable when the volume is down. Is this normal?

I think JJ 83's are super clear and tight. They do well in taming wild treble/presence, and hashy distortion. The 803's have a little less mids, more highs, but also have a looser feel.

They are both great tone tools. I have an amp that uses 83's, and another that uses both.

Yep mine does that.

Why oh why didn't they make channels 2 and 3 shared instead? This is the only thing stopping me from buying it. Heck, I'd even let them keep the 3rd channel- Just give me 1 and 2.

You know that is a good point, two and three shared and one all alone. That would have been more effective for me as well if I was looking at buying.

What is the impedance on your cabinet of greenbacks? Also, are you using that same cabinet with your Soldano Hot Rod 50+?

I actually posted your clip in this thread yesterday morning...the tone is fantastic.

Also, you clip makes me realize that I am totally inept at using delay effectively.

It's a high gain amp --- channels two and three are the reasons for the amp.

I think the fact that they put a clean channel on it is just a luxury.

After researching some more, I guess quite a few of the 100W heads pop as well when switching channels. Is there a general cause for this, or is it simply a "some do and some don't" kind of thing? Would cabinet choice have any effect on this? I've read that some returned their 100W heads for replacements. Just trying to figure out if I should do the same, and what the odds are of getting another one that pops. Mine also crackled and popped a little bit shortly after powering on (I turned the power on, and waited 30 seconds to turn the standby on, as per the owner's manual). Is this normal?

Sorry for all the questions, this is my first time owning and playing through a tube amp. I'm just wondering if these are normal nuances that come with the territory? Thanks.

I started a poll about that .... last I checked it was 100% in favor of doing just that ...

I haven't hooked up the foot switch yet but changing channels via the front panel doesn't pop on mine. Does yours pop switching via panel?

I hear no popping when changing channels --- even at low levels. Obviously there is a "click" that can be heard at low levels but that's coming from the footswitch itself.

I'm not a guy who plays on the clean channel but earlier I was doing some (just for the fun of it) and noticed that if you strum softly and then make the switch to Channel 2 there is a big difference in volume.

BUT....if you're playing normally, perhaps even digging in a bit, there's not really any difference in volume going from channel 1 to channel 2.

Lovin' this amp.....
