GB '11 - Apogee Duet - do I still need a direct box?

I mean, I think it sounds good, either through my own pedal board or using GB's new amps and effects for something easy - do I still need to use a direct box to boost my signal into the Duet? I don't think so.....
If we're talking about a .1% improvement at the margin whenever played back through a deluxe sound system, I don't care about that. I'm not about pro level recording, I'm about ease and having it sound OK, and I think it does.

Any thoughts?

No, you don't need one at all.
Not even for recording bass.

My Duet sounds great by itself on guitar, bass, and amp Line signals. Plenty of level available and sounds as good or better as any other direct box/interface combo I've tried.
