How do soapbar pickups mount to guitar?

I just ordered a Italia Rimini 6 at an amazing price and plan to get some TV Jones MagnaTrons in Soapbar flavor. I see there are either screws to mount between the poles, and just outside of the poles. Of course the Italia and TV Jones screw holes are in different places.

So my question is how do soapbars mount to the guitar? Are they just screwed to the wood of the guitar with some compression foam under the pickup to adjust height? Or is there actually a bracket / harness? Is it easy to change the mount type?

thanks.

It varies by platform. Here's a Les Paul. Never mind the false bottom I had to craft to make P-90 Soapbar fit in a P-100 cavity (which is a deeper pickup). But I think you get the picture...

Oh perfect. Exactly what i was looking for. So it's really not a big deal to just make new holes right? Is there any issue that i am not seeing to different screw positions? And it seems like the springs push the pickup, up. Pretty simple! Thanks very much.

It's pretty much the same thing with a set of TV Jones I mounted to another guitar (Telecaster) - the two screws (outside of the poles) go into wood, with a spring between the pickup base and the bottom of the cavity to keep tension on the pickup.

I have replaced P-90s (I forget which guitar it was) that used machine screws into a threaded metal plate at the base of the pickup cavity. Same principle, but may be limiting if the screw holes don't line up. Creativity comes into play, like the false bottom pic'd above.
