My Band, "See the Light"
I've been in this band for about 5 years now, joined when I was a sophomore in high school....we've recorded two EP's and toured the country twice. We recently lost our keyboard player due to a job opportunity he took...so we are writing new music right now, a lot different than this but I hope you guys enjoy it!
I know the songs have religious lyrics in them, but let's try to be civil musicians and talk about the MUSIC only, this was in no way shape or form trying to "reach" out to the forum, just want your guys' honest opinion. Here's the latest EP we put out in 2010 titled, "Maranatha" Enjoy! I'm also starting a side project right now that's nowhere close to this genre, we're going post-rock/ambient style haha....I love playing all styles, I'm also in the jazz band at my college. |

Boy.....I must be getting too old. The vocals of songs 2-5 were so unintelligible it completely distracted me from being objective. I know I'm not your target audience....so I'll leave it there and wish you well!

Hahaha yeah it's different, way different then most music out today. The genre has been growing substantially though.
Sadly, this chapter in my life might be coming to an end, although I do enjoy the genre, it takes a huge toll on your body (concerts are a little crazy) and I've hit a point where I want to start writing more soundscape-ish music. |

Sounds like a mixture of goth-metal and 80's hair metal. Not sure about that mix, but yeah it's different.
The vocals... I don't go much for the screamo style, but I like how you change the texture throughout the song. One thing I can't stand is hearing a screamo song where there's no variety. Hats off for that. I really like the drums. Not sure how you got all of that phasey washy sound in there, but I like it for this music. |

Are you talking about the keys or the drums? Our old keyboardist had a keyboard as well as a synth that he used for the pads. The drums IMO are a little too flat....We had a horrible time mixing and mastering this EP, the producer wanted it "his" way and we wanted it ours.....We kinda got into a heated battle in the studio and it wasn't what we wanted. Oh well, the quality is still good, we were looking for more bass and depth in the drums and the guitars to be a lot less digital. We used a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and a Peavey JSX head with a Marshal 1960 vintage B cabinet and a Avatar 2x12 with celestion v'30s....the raw sound of the amps was killer but the producer just messed everything up hahaha... Gotta find out how to keep this from happening again! |

Ok I fess up. I listened to it on a lap top. That sound I was referring to was a compliment. It almost sounded like canned drums. I did not think they were flat and dry at all. It was the cymbals. They sounded really compressed. Once again, don't change it. It works.
