"Chalk" Tolex Grill Cloth - Where Can I Find It?

Anyone know where I can buy a yard of the "chalk" tolex material found on Xits and Morgan amps? Like this:

I make tolexed pedal boards for fun and have a Morgan RCA35 coming my way that I want to match with my pedal board...I know, I'm a geek. Here's an example of what my last pairing looked like:

It doesn't show it but it had grill cloth and piping on the front to match the amp as well...pretty sweet

It's made by http://www.chilewich.com/ although that selection is mainly products. I'm sure they wholesale if a table runner isn't enough material for a pedal board.

Thanks! I've always wanted to start my own pedal board company...maybe just sell to those here on TGP. Don't tempt me!

Call Joe Morgan and talk to him about it. I think you have to buy it wholesale. I don't think they sell to private individuals.

Slick pedal board! Great idea, great job, cool indulgence! May not be the most rugged thing for the road in terms of the tolex being at risk for getting nicked up, but that would REALLY dress up someone's private pedal collection or their studio gear, for their home or studio work. Very nicely done!

If Morgan buys it in bulk, they might sell you enough for a pedalboard. They'd probably think it was cool that you were building a matching board for their amp.

I have a PM into Joe...we'll see what he says. As far as the tolex being road worthy, I think if you put it in a road case most of the travel damage can be avoided. When it's under my feet I don't find I nick it much at all. I guess it depends on the player. I have a new style of board I'm working on now. I'm done with the "glow-top" thing as it becomes nearly impossible to change a pedal quickly and easily (which we all do very often). I'll probably start up another thread to see if there would be any interest in these boards if I made them for sale.

Bump. Any updates on this? I'm looking to get my hands on some to build a matching cab for my AC20 Deluxe.

Joe will fill you in, but when I talked to him it was very difficult to get the company to sell him the stuff even at wholesale. They are picky about how it gets used. Weird. You would think they just want to sell the stuff, but there's more to it than that.

I talked with Joe and apparently it's even getting hard for him to get it. If you look around on the Chilewich site you can find a rep by you but also know that this stuff is expensive.

So, I looked around (A LOT) and found that if you find a Chilewich dealer (mine in AZ is WallResources.com) you can buy it by the linear yard. I asked and the upholstery version (no backing, the wall covering version has a backing) is around $34 a linear yard. If you want the backing (not sure as to the advantage/disadvantage to the backing) it's around $43 a linear yard.
To find out who my rep was, I called Chilewich and they directed me to them since I'm a private buyer, not a architect or interior designer.

Hope this helps.
