Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazz Bass

I ve been eye balling this and the Squier Vintage '70s Modified Jazz Bass. The classic vibe 60's has vintage fret wire and the 70's has the med jumbo.I'm a guitar player wanting a good low end bass, but, vintage fret wire on a bass seem's like it will be a chore to play for extended periods? The only other difference i noticed is advertised with a "high mass" bridge on the 60's and a "standard" on the 70's.

Any thought's?

Really, I don't notice a whole lot of fatigue or anything associated with the size of the fretwire on an instrument. If anything- it's more preference in feel.

I played a early 70's jazz bass for years, wasn't using it, sold it, now I'm needing one again. I've only played the classic vibe, but it was like shaking hands with an old friend. As soon as I can sell some stuff I'll get one!

I'm a guitar player and have recently started playing a little bass on some recordings because the bass player who was going to do the bass parts crapped out on me. It turns out I really like playing bass so I bought a '93 MIJ Jazz bass. What a killer instrument. The fit and finish is perfect (with upgraded bridge). The neck is very comfortable, no buzzing, and straight as can be. I paid $500 on eBay, but they seem to be in demand so I figured that I could easily sell it if it turns out that playing bass is not for me.

I hear the Classic Vibe P basses are very nice, especially for the $$.

If I hadn't just bought a bass, I'd check this one out. $350 and free shipping. MIM P Bass 3/4 scale, made for guitarists turned bassist.

I have the CV Jazz Bass. I bought it solely for doing bass tracks for home recording, and had expected that I would be doing some component swapping to "get it up to snuff" for my tastes. Truth be told it is really good as it is, and has never seen the business end of a soldering iron or screwdriver. For the money, you really can't go wrong with these guitars.

I bought my 19 YO daughter a 60's Classic Vibe jazz bass for Christmas...I thought it was amazing quality and tone for the price (got it for $310 at GC). We played it and the 70s Vintage Modified - I loved the black finish and maple neck - but it had some fret spout and she liked the rosewood on the 60's CV better. The tone on the 70's was definitely brighter and had more punch. Both are great instruments for the price.

No worries of hand fatigue with the vintage fret wire, huh?I guess not if your 19 daughter is loving her's?

Thanks guys and yeah,i had seen the other bass discussion thread.I just didnt see anything relating to smaller fret wire issues.

I've played some great ones off the rack. Good platform for upgrades, too.

The fretwire on my pre-CBS J neck on my #1 is virtually gone in spots, and it is a bit more of a physical challenge/workout to play than taller frets, but I doubt this would be an issue for many players.
