thx .. yeah sad especially what his manager says at the end about hoping he won't be one of those guys only finally celebrated after he's gone

I first heard of Danny while living in Richmond around '72 and this was from a non-musician. People would drive two hours just to see him. He was well known and celebrated from Baltimore, to DC to Richmond.

thanks for posting this. i've seen that segment before but don't remember if i saw it when it aired or years later...cool to see him just hanging out and
the shots of Danny on stage with Bill Kirchen were cool too

this is true. i moved to Alexandria in 1988 and found out about from some of my co-workers right away. i saw Danny a handful of times, sadly i passed up seeing him more times than i actually saw him.

I think it was coverage like this, that leaned too heavily on the "he's so great but he's so unsuccessful" angle, that probably helped further his depression.
