Actually, this is one of those instances where the guy got in too deep without knowing it. Think for a moment that you are a country boy familiar with the hardships of living in a harsh rustic environment. You are hired to take care of dogs and at times to euthenize them. You've had to shoot dogs that were old, sick or even kill puppies that you couldn't keep. This has gone on for a while so it's part of the daily routine. This sort of stuff is typical on a farm or ranch and it's not considered something unnatural.

So your boss tells you that we can't afford to feed 100 dogs any more. You call the vet but he won't come out because the dogs are healthy. So do you let them starve or euthenize them.

It seems like the operator felt he didn't have any choices. He had a relationship with the animals. Even walking away wasn't an option.

The situation is more complex than it first appears. You bunch of city boys probably haven't ever been around where animals are raised for food or work. It's a different world and there's different set of values surrounding it.

Now if you're all a bunch of vegans, my argument falls flat.

If this was in the far north,,,or even up around Churchill where I was born....sure....your point is valid. But, this was an hour or so north of a city of 2 million. I grew up there and Whistler ain't the wild west nor the rugged Yukon.

ebay, you have a point and I was thinking the same thing but there reaches a point where it's just not "natural" and that's what happened here.

Just tragic all around.

The owner of the 'Outdoor Adventures' business father is a billionaire land developer ( http://www.intracorpcapital.com/houssian.shtml ). It's not as if they're dirt poor. They saw the dogs as something that would be eating into profits and so they had to go. Just a business decision. In my opinion this has to do with greed. And I'm not a vegan. I like eating steak. And I fish too.

They unfortunately won't be. Humans tend to look down on other species but their own, so this will quickly be forgotten and it'll be business as usual for these people.

It's sad but this is exactly right. I don't feel bad for the guy that carried out the orders one bit. What an idiot to follow through with slaughtering 100 dogs and not question his boss. I'd like to see him and the company punished to the fullest extent but it'll never happen.
