How to insert IHMs in my ears?

Hi,

I'm new to in-hear monitoring systems.

When I put the IHMs in my ears I push them enough to hear the bass frequencies of the guitar and music but then there is a disturbing bass resonance in my head comparable to what you hear when you put your fingers in your ears and talk.

If I don't push them too much that bass resonance is gone but there is not enough bass frequencies in what I hear through the IHMs.

Should they be oriented at right angles to the ears or turned towards the front of the head?

Thank you!

Lick your fingers and lightly wet the ear piece. Pull the the middle of your outter ear back -between the lobe and the top of your ear. Insert ear piece -give a little twist to seat it . Let go of outter ear.

Test seal:

Orientation of off the shelf ear pieces will vary by type. Custom molds only go in one way.

Hope this helps.
