<Firesuit on>
the slide guitars at the ending of Layla.

Yeah, I said it.
Go ahead, burn me at the stake.
</firesuit off>

It was great the first hundred times I heard it.

Now it grates on my ears like fingernails on a chalkboard.
While I'm a fan of Clapton, and an absolutely huge fan of Allman,
I now have to change stations if it comes on the radio.
Maybe it's the trebly tone.
Maybe the magic is just gone for me.

And if there's an honorable mention for a "what the...?" guitar solo on a popular (you decide if it's killer) song:

Robert Palmer - Simply Irresistable

Almost any song from the 80s has a cheesy solo in a killer song? I would have thought that the opposite would be more likely.
