BASS combo advice

Alright,i went with the Squier 70's VM jazz bass and am now searching for a good\great(hopefully) low end combo. It's gonna be a mostly home jamming/recording and sometime's full band jamming scenario.$300-400 is my budget and maybe a little higher (saw a Ashdown combo around $500) if the quality jump is worth the extra dough?

So far i'm eyeing these.

and maybe the PV,but, the 60 watts isnt very appealing to me?

Ashdown

Any advice or other amp model recomendations is greatly appreciated.

$500, but will likely set you up for great suces for many years

Peavey Tour TNT 115. 600 watts, lightweight power supply, neo magnet speaker, the cab is even shaped to kick back for better monitoring.

The GK you have above is also very nice. Not familiar with the Acoustic stuff. The Fender is strictly entry level, which may not be the worst thing ever, but IMO it will struggle to keep up with a band.

You can get an older Peavey TNT amp for $125. It's just fine. I sold mine, because it's heavy and bulky, to a much better bass player than me who has probably been making money using it.

Hey Craig4su, I don't have any recommendations but am interested in the answers to your amp question. When you say, "occaisional full band jamming" are you thinking this amp will stand up to a full drum kit? (assuming rock or something...) just curious,

I like the Acoustic combos a lot. I have to second sears' comment above though - I found an older Peavey TNT on Craigslist for $125. It's loud as hell and sounds great.

Thanks for input guys.

To: vorvick, yeah,i'm referring to stage volume jam sessions. If it get's loud enough i can mic to the P.A. these guys use for regular gigging or DL to the board, but,i'd prefer that as a last resort as the sessions arent always full out.

I had a buddy that had carvin. Price was good but speakers were not of quality and he had to replace them. He could have bought a really nice cab once, instead of buying carvin 2 or more times, which is pretty much what has happened over time.

The Carvin stuff has gone downhill to me..

I've played the Hydrive Hartke combos and thought they were nice for the money.

The Acoustic stuff is price wise appealing, and I was able to get a decent tone from them, but I've heard alot about them not holding up well. A buddy of mine is Manager at a GC in ATL he told me this.

I've played the GK as well.. but I think I liked the Hartke better.

Someone said something about the Carvin had poor speakers, I would agree. I expected them to sound alot better than they did.

Problem is there are no real stores in Savannah to try out Bass Gear. Jacksonville has a GC, the one in Charleston S.C. is a joke.

Used Eden Metro!
I love mine and it has enough volume to hold its own in a band setting. If you need some extra volume, you can also add an extention cab.

Built to last, and great tone.

I have also found GK to be a good workhorse solution.

As for the combo option - you can always get a micro head and a cab - might widen your options without making it any more difficult to move around.

As for Carvin - I have no experience with their bass amps. I had a nice Carvin bass that I very much enjoyed for many years.

Happy hunting!
