I love Scumback speakers!

When I built my son's amp, I had an idea that it would sound best with Scumback speakers. I was right. I made a few tester clips. Lots of clams and tuning issues, but they will give you a great idea of how good the Scummies sound IMO. BTW, I am not affiliated with Scumbacks in any way other than a big fan and now neighbor (not good for the wallet, LOL!)

Part 1: M75's DD3 in loop

Part 2:M75's no effects

Part 3: J75's

It is an amp I built myself in a Express clone chassis and headshell. The preamp section is influenced by a Roccaforte and Splawn, the power amp section is a copy of a JMP 2204

I definitely noticed the difference too. If I were in a metal band and wanted to make sure my sound stayed tight and defined, I would use the J's. Especially, if i were in a 2 guitar band. For lower gain stuff, the J's seem to do the Malcolm Young rhythm tone more faithfully. I can imagine how great these would sound with a JTM45-100!

For my taste and what my son will get (LOL!), the M75's are a more vintage and hence more desirable tone. More woody sounding, warm, etc...

I have had H's and they sounded awesome with my CA OD2-100, but that amp is brutal on speakers, made them cry in a 2x12 format. Would like to get a 4x12 loaded with those for my OD2 someday...

Guys are really liking the M/J mix as well. I have the M/H mix in my 412 and the J's in my 212. I think I'm going to move the J's in with the M's and see what kind of fun that is.

Agree with the guys above, the amp sounds great man!! Nice job.

Sounds great!!! And, kudos to you for the amp build. That's a lot of work! I am really pretty darn ecstatic about the M75s in my 4x12 Germino that just landed. With the Monterey 100, it's a marriage made in heaven! Great speakers.

Update: Got the M75 for my son's rig today. Put in his PCW standard 1x12 and guess what? It sounds awesome. I was concerned because I heard a M75 in a OS1x12 PCW cab some time ago and it sounded a bit loose and flabby in that cab. I did a side by side comparison with my CAA 4x12 and the tone was there. I have a feeling I will be "borrowing" my sons rig more often...

I posted in another thread that I really think that Jim's neighbors think he is a crack dealer, LOL!

Picture this: Guys showing up at his house at all hours with cash in hand, a nervous, hunted, anticipatory look on their faces. When they finally do leave, they come out of his house with big stupid grins and take off quickly to slam those speakers in a cab... Sometimes the same guy or guys show up often (hmm, someone like me?)...

Oh, and how can I forget to mention the crazy, pit bull looking guard dog...
