If you want some insight from the company VP - Dave McLaren, who posts as Darth Invader - check out the G&L BBS:
http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/gldp/index.php3 G&L make great instruments at amazing prices - don't doubt that will change...

Tis indeed time to come into the modern age.
Outside of Ed Roman, there is no way anyone can knock CNC. Oh, and midi is pretty cool too if you apply it correctly.

I just thought it was interesting... the last to go.
Doesn't mean a thing to me. Anyone who understands what a CNC machine actually does would have no problem with it. It's like having a problem with a bandsaw.

Does this mean that G&L guitars will now be just as good as Peaveys?
Seriously, CNC is a tool. Tools are used by craftsmen. Craftsmen build things, not tools. The best tool in the world, in the hands of a crappy craftsman, isn't going to improve production.

I dunno about this. I suppose it will be allright if G&L uses only vintage CNC machines...

Ive built them both ways.....I use CNC now and Ill tell you its not as easy as people think. You dont just stick wood in one side and have a guitar come out the other side. many times it take longer just to set up the machine to do something. Sometimes I could have just cut it out. The acuracy and consistency (sp?) is what I like about them. I wouldnt even want to own a guitar now that didnt have its fret slots done on a CNC.
There is a whole lot of time spent programming that you never get paid for. Ever. www.heatleyguitars.com |

I refuse to buy any guitar that hasn't been hand whittled and sanded from a log. The only tools needed to shape a guitar body and neck are a Swiss Army Knife and a piece of sand paper!
