Freda 1x12 Vs Forte

I'm curious if anyone has tried both the Freda 1x12 and the Forte 1x12 cabinets. If so, how do they compare. I used to have a Freda 1x12 longbody which I liked but had to sell it because I needed the money. I'm wondering if I should get another or try a Forte 3D 112 instead.

I haven't tried the Freda, but I did some research into his design concept and tried to find other reviews. For whatever reason, the reviews I read were evenly mixed - some good, some not so good. It made me reconsider, and I subsequently found the Forte 3D cabs with their unique design, and decided to take a chance.

It was a good gamble. I'm totally satisfied with my Forte, which I use in conjunction with a Pine Thiele 1-12 cab, and it's a match made in heaven.

what's the amp. i have the 2x12 forte with tone tubbys. wow. i've been impressed with it. got it back in may. it goes best with my bludo. i was looking at the freda, but found forte & it just looked interesting enough. plus the speaker choices for me were better with forte. i may have been the first to get one with the tubbys

I've had both cabs. I now have two Forte cabs and a 3rd being shipped as we speak. Personally I greatly prefer the Forte cabs (obviously.)

I hate to say anything bad about a company, but there were three things I didn't like about the Freda cab. First off, it was very boomy, I could never tailor the bass response just right, with multiple amps.

Second, the cab had a rattle I could never solve or get rid of. I even went so far as to take the grill cloth off and try to space it out a bit further using felt between the grill cloth frame and the cabinet.

That experiment lead me to my third issue. Let me begin by saying I'm not an extremely picky guy, and this certainly didn't have any sonic effect on the cab, but the front "port" cutout in the baffle was really unevenly cut, like it was done with a jig saw and no template. Had I not had the buzz issue I wouldn't even have noticed it.

The Freda cab was by no means a bad cab, but for the price there's no comparison in my mind between Freda and Forte. Build wise & sonically I greatly prefer the Forte cabs. The Forte 3D 112 cabs just fill the room with a balanced sound, and don't sound at all like a 112. They've got a nice amount of bass response & punch without getting boomy or woofy. (Funny terms aren't they?)

I gave the Freda cab away to a local kid and he loves it, so I'm happy about that. Just my honest opinion. I've no affiliation with Forte, just a happy customer.

I like my Freda 1x12 shortbody. Haven't tried a Forte, but they do look very interesting and like a finer build. The Freda does have some "rustic" qualities, but I love the lightweight profile and it sounds huge.

Yes, buildwise, I thought the Freda cab I had could've been better for the price.

I just bought a used Freda 1x12 in white tolex at GC. The sound was so fantastic that I had to buy it! I opened it up at the store and found it was loaded with Eminence Patriot speaker; one of my favorites. The build quality is top notch made with Birch. Very light weight!
