Apologizing for the recent Matchless post
Hey guys,
I wanted to apologize to the members and moderators who saw my recent post about trying to figure out what price to sell my matchless amp for. I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE I was not trying to sell my amp with the post. I know some readers reported it as spam and the moderators agreed. I would like to say, that after reading what I wrote again I would have to agree that it did really look sorta spamish and that I would have probably responded the same way if I was somebody reading something that looks that much like possible spam. The reason I was SOO detailed and sounding like i was giving a "sales pitch" is because I was looking for an estimate assuming that I am not in a hurry and can be very patient and wait for right price. I was trying NOT to get ballpark general estimates, but instead get a good idea of what the amp generally sells for on the highest end as is usually the case when sold by patient sellers. I felt like if trying to sell the amp for max price, then I would need to be specific on condition, color, customizations, etc. (all info that would be generally not be needed for just an average ballpark price) So I agree, after reading my post again, it was way to descriptive and sounded like i was "trying to sell it". I am very sorry for the hassle. Please believe I'm 100% right there with you guys on spam. I HATE IT!!!! I will always be the first to report it if I see it and will take care in the future not to be so clueless with my posts. I can assure you that my amp is NOT for sale yet. I do not know when it will go up for sale. I have to buy another amp first since it's my main gig amp. I am also sorry to the moderators who got a nasty spirited reply from me last night when I received the warning for my post. I was already in a bitchy mood and was caught so much off guard and I hated to be accused of doing something that I did not do and especially to be accused of spam, something that i hate on such an intense level!! I hope I didn't piss too many forum goers off with the spam looking post. I hope to continue asking questions and contributing where i can on TGP. Also, since I really like being a part of TGP and am thankful for the moderators not just simply banning me on the spot and to show that I am definitely planning sticking around TGP and not EVER planning on doing anything to jeopardize my membership I am upgrading my membership to "SILVER SUPPORTING MEMBER" I know it isn't necessary, but I guess it just one more way that I can try to show everyone that I am not someone you will ever have to worry about being shady on TGP. Thank you, Adam Card (adcard) adamdcard@gmail.com |

I would hope the Mods would allow us one mistake without simply being banned, but I'm sure anyone who was mildly offended would be grateful for this post.
TGP is a cool place with lots of people to learn from. |

If this were FDP you'd be banned for this post. Music web sites have weird rules so don't worry about acting naturally.

No lie. I got banned from FDP for mentioning in a super reverb discussion that I had consigned my amp to a local shop. (No details on the amp, no name/location or anything else on the shop.) Compared to that kind of petty tyrant stuff, TGP laissez faire was (and is) a great, adult type of experience.

btw, rule of thumb for matchless combos? go for around $2k on average, in general, etc etc.

Last Chieftain head sold here for 1600 ish IIRC after being listed a few times. A few 2x12 ESD cabs are in the emporium right now listed for 550 to 600 ish.
A general rule of thumb for a used price is to knock 30 percent off of the original retail price. |
