Hi,
I have the chance to get a Rivera fifity five twelve combo amp. I was wondering if you all could give your opinions on it. Good, Bad. Thanks, Aaron

Still have mine I bought in '99. Depends...if you play lots of cleans, these are excellent amps. For the gain side, it's Ok...but it's not great. If you're playing rhythm, it will do fine, but lots of leads: keep looking.
I've been playing Marshalls the past 2 years and the R-55 stays off. |

It is a fine amp that will give you both Marshall and Fender tones. I played one for many years but almost always used the Fender sounding side. Because of that I went to a Carr Rambler and Dr Z Maz 18.

How does it handle effects pedals? Thanks for your answers so far!

I used one for almost 7 years straight...I think I basically killied it and the relays on the board went out...Paul estimated like $60 a relay x 4 ....retired it...
Clean no headroom without boost and they flab out with the channel vol up... Gain was killer with all my guitars except 335 and Mccarty...never could get a good gain sound with them... If the price is $500-$600 go for it...come with Celestion GT 85 speaker which sounds great, a change out to WGS ET65 even better... Imperative to have the FS 7 footswitch...FWIW. |
